Because many people and organizations that do create backups don’t make sure that their data can be efficiently restored should a data loss incident strike. For example, it’s not uncommon for an organization that has fallen victim to a ransomware attack to find out that their data recovery process is either slow or incomplete, which ultimately pushes them to take the wrong decision – pay the ransom demand.
