TEST DRIVE

Maruti Baleno is a good looking hatchback with spacious interiors, loaded with features and probably the fastest. Even if the fastest acceleration, the mileage is 13.92 kmpl.  The 1.2-litre K-Series motor is surprisingly efficient and the 170mm ground clearance ensures that the underbody is not scraped, even on large speed breakers.  The projector headlamps are good, and visibility is greatly enhanced at night. The LED daytime running lights were a nice too, being a head turner. The 339 litres of boot space is enough to keep lots of bags. The clutch is not the lightest and is not convenient for prolonged bouts of stop-and-go traffic. The driver’s seat is not perfectly primed for long drives – poor lumbar support may cause backaches after sometime. The 7-inch display is crisp, clear and well-placed which makes reversing and parking easy.

Overall Maruti Baleno is best suited for the urban jungle.
