Maruti Suzuki has recently released the new Swift and Dzire, showcasing their new HEARTECT platform. Now, the company has spoken of a new facelift version of the Ertiga. This new MUV will be based on the same platform, and will be released sometime in 2018. We expect a lot of new features when it finally arrives.
The new HEARTECT platform will make for a much lighter car, by causing a weight reduction of around 100 kilograms. This means that the new Ertiga will have a better power to weight ratio, more fuel efficiency and an overall better performance. Under the hood, the Ertiga will have either a 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine or a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine, both producing 90bhp. The transmission options will comprise a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The lighter chassis will also contribute an improvement to the drive performance. In addition to these choices, the new VXi version will have a CNG engine option as well.
The new Ertiga will have a wider body, much like the Swift and the Dzire, because of the HEARTECT platform. Furthermore, the front of the car will take inspiration from the Swift as well. There will be a new larger front grille. The newer, more sleek projector headlamp will also come with daytime-running LEDs. The silhouette will have a sharper, more aerodynamic design for improved performance. The rear too bears resemblance to the new Swift, with sleeker taillights and indicators.
The all-beige interiors are freshly styled. The dashboard has a new design, which includes a new design for the AC-vents, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. In addition, the wider chassis allows a more spacious interior, meaning you have more legroom, and more room for storage in the boot. Combine that with flexible seating, and you have your own custom comfort levels. In terms of features, the new Ertiga comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity, push-button start, automatic headlamps, rear AC-vents and keyless entry among other things. Also, you get dual airbags at the front, and ABS as default features in all variants.
The new Ertiga will not see much of a change in its price range, in comparison to the older models. Do not expect it to be cheap. The base variant will probably cost around 6.5 to 7 lakhs, while the top variant may go for as much at 12 lakhs. We will have to be a little patient for Maruti Suzuki to launch the Ertiga, but we can expect a good investment.
